This morning began with barn chores, which is always lovely once I get there. I enjoy the company of the animals and don't mind mucking their poop and pee. Did you know that 1,000 pounds of sheep will produce in a year six tons of manure? One thousand pounds of sheep is probably four sheep. Does this weight of manure contain all the straw and wood shavings as well, or is this just poop and pee? These are the things one thinks about when one has five country acres and an old barn foundation upon which to build. Do we want sheep, goats, chickens, cows, horses? The larger the animal, the more tonnage of poo.
